Kids in EYAS have a variety of physical activities every day, such as rhythm and dance, basic movement exercises, and sports games. They are not just meet the demand of children’s physical needs, but also promote the coordinated development of their body movements. The most important is, our children gain happiness from these activities.

Now, let’s see those shining moments.

Crawling and Jumping Practice --- Bunny, Go!

During IC Class physical activity period, teachers use stories to lead children in the playing of games. In the video, we can see that children are playing as rabbits by scrambling over the hill and pretending to eat grass.

First of all, children practice basic physical activities by using their feet, hands, and knees. They crawl over the floating mat on their hands and knees, and then they jump over the hillside with both feet. Teachers use different ways to guide children, based on the child’s ages and abilities. Younger children cannot jump with both feet yet, so teachers help them to experience the feeling of feet off the ground.

These fun and easy activity games are important for young children. Crawling with their hands and feet improves children’s coordination of their upper and lower limbs, at the same time as it strengthens their leg muscles.

Balance Beam Exercise 1 -- Single-Plank Bridge

Children in IC class (1.5-3 years old) are in the stage of discipline development. Their physical activities should not only meet the need of their physical development, but also have the interest points of the corresponding age group, so as to attract children to participate in a whole physical activity spontaneously. Now, let's warm up together, and then we are going to cross the single-plank bridge!

Children in pictures above are doing balance training. According to the age characteristics of IC class, teachers lower the balance beam to the ground height in order to increase the confidence of children to face the challenge.  When children are doing the balance training, they have to accept the rule -- once they fall to the ground, they have to get back to the balance beam and finish the whole journey! Look, these children are eager to try since they had seen their elder brothers and sisters in school walking on the high single-plank bridge. But now they have to walk sideways since they are unable to switch right and left leg when walking on it.

Balance Beam Exercise 2 -- 30-centimiter Single-Plank Bridge

In October, Children from Casa class small age group (3-4.5 year old) practiced climbing relate basic activities during the physical activity period. While in this month, they have started to challenge the 30-centimeter balance beam.

The game that you can see from pictures is called “Exploring the single-plank bridge”. Children need to keep switching right and left leg when walking on the “bridge”. While at the same time, they also need to pass obstacles set up by teachers. This game not only can increase children’ ability of dynamic balance and improve their confidence, but also can encourage them to face challenges. Let’s see how these children perform!

Did you notice how seriousness these kids are? That’s because walking on a single-plank bridge definitely requires great care.

In the video above, you can tell there are three partners working together to cross obstacles as well as walking on the “bridge”. When the number of participants increased to three, it not only puts higher requirements on every child’s balance ability, but also tests their ability to cooperate. Meanwhile, when three children complete the challenge successfully, their self-satisfaction doubled.

Exploration of Specific Sport -- The Basic Movement of Football

Since the year start, the children around 4.5-6 years old in Casa Class have been practicing the basic movements such as walking, running, jumping, climbing, balancing, and crawling. Children have made steady progress in the stability of their movements. In this semester, in addition to consistently practicing these basic movements, the children start to experience football activities.

After teacher’s demonstration, the children were introduced to the basic movements of football and the shooting. In the future, teachers will present more football skills through games. We believe that football exploration activities can enhance the flexibility and coordination of children’s bodies. More importantly, it is a way for the children to experience the charm of sports and make it a life-long habit.
